How guided matter support works

Start with Get Help. If guided support is appropriate, your matter moves through a staff-assisted process built around evidence, procedure and your decisions.

Step 1

Tell us what happened

Use Get Help to describe your circumstances, confirm that you are ready to get organised and book a 30-minute consultation.

🀝
Step 2

Consultation and initial orientation

We identify the material available, immediate procedural pressure and information still needed. Fair Dinkum Legal is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

πŸ”
Step 3

Evidence and procedure review

Staff organise the available material, distinguish allegations from evidence and findings, and identify gaps that affect the available pathways.

🧭
Step 4

Pathway options and scope

Available procedural options are presented with their evidentiary basis and practical trade-offs. You choose the pathway. Work is scoped and priced for that pathway.

✍️
Step 5

Engagement and preparation

You review the engagement, sign if you choose and arrange payment. Staff then manage intake and document preparation for the agreed scope.

πŸ“
Step 6

Your review and adoption

Drafts and completed documents are given to you to review. You correct and adopt each document as your own. Affidavits contain your sworn facts.

πŸ“€
Step 7

Your decision and pathway execution

If you direct FDL to lodge an adopted document, that lodgment is an administrative act performed only on your specific written direction for that document. You decide what is filed or sent and when.

Fictional example. Not a client’s matter. Not a court document. No outcome is shown.

What the preparation produces

What arrives

  • A run of text messages about a Saturday pickup. No dates on the thread.
  • A school email dated 3 March: Alex was not there at 3:15.
  • A handwritten note: Easter withheld, June birthday refused, October school change. No years written down.

What staff prepare from that material

  • Chronology. The school email is a dated row. The messages are a row marked β€œdate not on the thread.” Easter, June, and October stay as the note recorded them.
  • Evidence index. Each row names its source: the message thread, the school email, or the handwritten note.
  • Structured draft. Numbered paragraphs that use only those rows. You review, correct, and adopt the draft. It does not predict what a court will order.

FDL may say that the available material does not responsibly support a requested proposition or pathway. You may seek independent legal advice at any time.
